WHERE
DOES THE MONEY GO?
That’s
a question a good
many donors ask in these days of economic crunch. Rest
assured that ADS
appreciates all that you’ve given to it and has been very
careful where it
places your donations.
Since
we are an organization
of volunteers, little is used for administration and/or
overhead. In
fact, with the exception of telephone bills and expenses related to
this
newsletter, all money received in the form of donations is used to
benefit
people with Autism Spectrum Disorder and their families or teachers.
Individual
grants have been given to children on the spectrum to augment
special education programs by offering them the opportunity to attend
summer
camp with typical children.
Dedicated
students have
been given stipends to assist them in their college endeavors so they
may
become the future educators, therapists or professional who will work
for
people on the spectrum.
Money
has been given to
research, and to a project in development that will help educate
pediatricians
and other health care providers about autism spectrum disorders.
Additional
funds have
been made available for not for profit agencies which have outstanding
and
innovative programs for people with Autism Spectrum Disorder.
Some of
these programs include:
Weekends
at Briggs Farm Bed and Breakfast, a recreational
weekend with
trained staff.
Holiday and summer programs for children while school is not in session.
Music lessons
Community
outreach so that people with Autism Spectrum Disorder
might give back to the community
Transportation
for a specialized after school program
The
sponsorship of conferences and special speakers
There
are a variety of
ways in which an individual can make his donation count at
ADS.
~There
is a general fund
in which you designate that your donation be used where ADS feels it
will do
the most good.
~You
can designate a
geographic area in which you would like your donation to be spent.
~You
can designate a
specific area of expense or program in which you would like your
donation to be
spent. Examples would be for Autism and the Arts, for training, for
respite,
for camper assistance, for therapy or for research, just to name a few.
Cards
in Honor of or in
Memory of are Available:
~You decide to make a
contribution to ADS in
honor of or in memory of another, ADS will be happy to acknowledge that
gift
with a lovely card written to the person or people you wish to
honor.
~You
too, will receive an acknowledgement to use for your tax
purposes.
As always, ADS strives to
help anybody in need of information and it doesn’t
support or espouse any one
therapy or protocol.
ADS
has never charged dues
or a fee for its information, yet we appreciate your kind
gifts. When you
wonder where to spend your discretionary charitable dollars, please
think of
us. We will be eternally grateful.
